Viacom18 Studios & Dharma Productions present A Dharma Productions Film JUGJUGG JEEYO
For Kartik Aaryan fans, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has all the masala to satiate their taste buds. It’s funny in places, tries to be scary most of the time, but like its title, its efforts get somewhere lost in a maze. Our takeaway is Tabu.
The 2007 Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan-starter Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a game-changer in many ways. It created a folklore horror genre before we met the Strees and Paris of the world. In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Manjulika paved the way for future Roohis and Strees.
In the 2022 revisit to the world of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, everything is amped up. The jokes sound like pages from someone’s stand-up act, the music has an EDM synth to it and the leads are, of course, two actors who scream modern-day showbiz stardom – Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. The premise is again a haveli and Manjulika’s not gone anywhere. It’s been 18 years since she was locked up in that room with no end in sight and no one there to set her free. There is the staple brigade of the bumbling buffoon, led by Rajpal Yadav in his iconic getup and a few new faces. Then there is Kartik’s Babaji act, covering up a big lie about his relationship with Kiara and how they both end up crossing paths with Manjulika. Amidst all this madness and chaos, the one actor that stands tall and manages to give the film its much-needed pull is Tabu. She delivers a knock-out performance.
There are a lot of throwback moments and references to the original BB, starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel, among others. But, comparing Kartik to Akshay is no fun because this will only take away the fun quotient from the movie-watching experience. Where the film works best is in its attempt to revisit the larger-than-life early 2000s movies with huge casts and bigger budgets. The writing of the film is also reminiscent of that period, with the punches and jokes written with a slapstick slant. The VFX and CGI are another strong asset and go a long way in making the film look good.
Among the performances, Tabu leads the pack. She sheds all inhibitions to play this tricky part. Despite some really cringe-worthy moments and loud dialogues, she manages to navigate the rocky terrain that this character has to offer. Kartik is easy on the eyes and totally in his element. This film is a reminder of how good he is at comedy and romance – two genres he’s come to ace. Kiara matches his timing in the big scenes and the two definitely have some crackling on-screen chemistry. Director Anees Bazmee, who is a master of this genre, weaves in the right humour in the right places.
On the flip side, BB2 struggles to stay cohesive and hold your attention. The writing is uneven and the small moments between characters often get lost in the jarring background score and jazzy special effects. Logic and reason have no space in the movie, which has superstition and black magic at their epicentre. Also, this is not a kid-friendly movie. The scenes depicting black magic and witchcraft are quite gory and disturbing. Another USP of the original, that was missing from the new flashy version, is the soundtrack. The songs barely register, and Mere Dholna 2.0 doesn’t hold a candle to the original.

Tiger Shroff films have always been high on action and major money spinners at the box office. However, can we say the same about his latest, Heropanti 2, compared to say, the Baaghi franchise? Let’s find out.
After making his debut in 2014 with Heropanti, Tiger Shroff carved a niche for himself as an action hero. From high-octane action sequences to impressive stunts, the actor is known to nail all that with finesse. Tiger Shroff’s latest film, Heropanti 2, was released on April 29. While he has been garnering praise for this action entertainer, the box office collection says otherwise. Hence, the question arises, is the audience done with the genre called Tiger Shroff? Where does Heropanti 2 stand compared to the Baaghi franchise? Let’s find out: WHERE DOES HEROPANTI 2 STAND AGAINST BAAGHI 3?
Tiger Shroff’s films are mostly about a series of airborne sequences sprinkled with melodious songs, a pleasant-on-the-eyes leading lady and enough room to showcase the actor’s mastery of various kinds of martial arts. While Tiger’s ardent fans enjoy his action entertainers thoroughly, others perhaps are expecting something new from the actor.
When it comes to Heropanti 2’s box office collection, on its opening day, the film earned a total of Rs 7.50 crore. Box Office India’s reports suggested, “The multiplex movement was very slow for Heropanti 2.” On the other hand, Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor’s Baaghi 3, which was released in 2020, opened at Rs 17.50 crore at the box office, despite the coronavirus scare.
WHAT DID THE CRITICS SAY ABOUT HEROPANTI 2 AND BAAGHI 3?
In both films, Tiger, as an actor, was at his usual best. He owned every scene, nailed the action sequences and gave glimpses of being funny and romantic. However, what failed to work for our reviewers was the storyline.
With many gaps in the plot and unnecessary scenes, the 2-hour-22-minute Heropanti 2 could have easily been cut to an hour if not more. “A bit more focus on the storyline, plot and character development are what Heropanti 2 lacked,” wrote IndiaToday.in’s reviewer Tanushree Roy.
Baaghi 3 also didn’t impress the critics and received mixed reviews. Our reviewer, Nairita Mukherjee, rated the film 1.5 out of 5 stars. In her review, she wrote, “Baaghi 3, the third instalment of the super successful Baaghi franchise, remained true to its genre through its 143-minute runtime. In terms of performances, Tiger’s abs took the cake, hands down, shirts off. But Tiger Shroff per se wasn’t half as bad as Shraddha Kapoor. There’s bad acting, and then there is over-acting. Shraddha’s was bad over-acting.”
Both Heropanti 2 and Baaghi 3 are directed by Ahmed Khan. While Heropanti 2 features Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tara Sutaria, Baaghi 3 starred Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, along with Riteish Deshmukh, Ankita Lokhande, Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma and Ashutosh Rana.

Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Heropanti 2 is a paisa vasool entertainer. But, it comes with its own flaws. The film released today, April 29.
Cast: Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria, Nawazuddin Siddiqui Director: Ahmed Khan
What constitutes a Tiger Shroff film? Aerial kicks, a dollop of romance and a dash of misfit storyline is the perfect recipe and that is exactly what Heropanti 2 is. Starring Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Heropanti 2 is the much-awaited sequel to the film of the same name, which also featured Kriti Sanon.
The story begins with the introduction of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays the role of a magician, digital fraudster and caring brother – Laila – all rolled into one. The story revolves around Laila (Nawazuddin) and Babloo Rawat (Tiger Shroff). While Babloo is constantly dodging Laila’s attacks, he is also trying to romance Laila’s sister, Inaaya (Tara Sutaria). What follows is a tussle between the heart and the mind and of course, between Babloo and Laila. Who wins? Does Babloo lose this time and will there be a third instalment to the popular franchise? Well, guess you would have to watch to know!
In the sequel, Babloo Ranawat is RJ, and a changed man now. We are introduced to his mother, played by Amrita Singh. The scenes between the duo seem stretched, and somewhat unnecessary. The story moves forward to show how Babloo ditched his life in India to move abroad and start a new chapter.
Be it the way Nawazuddin has stepped into the character of Laila or how he tackles action sequences, he is like butter on bread. His acting prowess is on clear display and he is a delight to watch. Tiger, as an actor, is his usual phenomenal self. He owns every scene, nails the action sequences and even gives romantic scenes a try. In one particular scene, where Tara and Tiger are left with no option but to fight for their lives, the actor shines and how!
Tara Sutaria AKA Inaaya plays the role of Tiger Shroff’s love interest. However, the actress has limited screen time and an even lesser role to play in the plot. The story moves forward to introduce Laila’s plan of stealing money from every citizen of India via his app called Pulse.
Helmed by choreographer-turned-filmmaker Ahmed Khan, the film has been shot in exotic locations with music given by maestro AR Rahman. However, this is not the regular Rahman music you might be expecting. Dafa Kar or Whistle Baja 2.0, the songs are catchy and stay with you even after the credits roll. They are cheeky and totally what we would expect from a masala entertainer. Tiger Shroff also turned singer with his debut song, Miss Hairan, which we can safely say is the new party number in town.
However, what failed to work was the storyline. With many gaps in the plot and unnecessary scenes, the 2-hour-22-minute movie could have easily been cut to an hour if not more. A bit more focus on the storyline, plot and character development are what Heropanti 2 lacked.
