Your wait for Ek Villain to ‘return’ is finally over! The film, which released on June 27, 2014, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead, was a box office success. The sequel to the film is titled Ek Villain Returns which stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria in lead roles. The second part released today, July 29, and Twitter is exploding with reviews. Here’s what fans have to say.

Ek Villain Returns pits John Abraham’s character Bhairav against Gautam, played by Arjun Kapoor. The two leading ladies, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria also add the fiery quotient to the film. Fans who watched the early morning shows of Ek Villain Returns took to their social media and reviewed the film.

3 OUT OF 5 STARS FOR EK VILLAIN RETURNS gave Ek Villain Returns 3 out of 5 stars. Our review read, “The gripping plot of Ek Villain Returns is the winner with an engaging storyline. Mohit Suri, who did a good job with the first film of the Ek Villain franchise, brings a masala entertainer with massy dialogues, thrilling moments and good performances in the sequel. While there are some impressive stunts in the films, there are a few bad VFXs as well. The film’s music is good and the songs are melodious, but none other Galliyaan has a shelf life.

The film had many illogical twists and action sequences. They tried to show John Abraham to be immensely powerful, whose expertise lies in breaking glass, be it in high-rise buildings or a metro rail. He might also also remind you of Sunny Deol when he easily dislodges the pole in the metro train and breaks the iron gate in the zoo.”

Ek Villain Returns is the sequel to the 2014 hit film, Ek Villain, which starred Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh. While the first film of the franchise was about a conflict between a hero and a villain, Ek Villain Returns follows the story of two villains, with John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor essaying negative roles. Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani play the female leads in the thriller. The film is helmed by Mohit Suri. Ek Villain Returns marks John Abraham’s first collaboration with the director. Meanwhile, Disha Patani played the lead role in Mohit’s last directorial, Malang.

Shamshera box office collection Day 2: Ranbir Kapoor’s comeback film earns lesser than Alia’s Gangubai Kathiawadi

Ranbir Kapoor’s return to the big screen with Shamshera has earned lesser money than his wife, Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi Day 2 collections. With poor reviews and a muted fan reaction, Shamshera is struggling at the theatres.

Shamshera released on July 22.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor.
It is directed by Karan Malhotra.

Ranbir Kapoor’s first film in four years, Shamshera, is tanking at the box office. The film opened to around Rs 10.25 crore on the first day of release, July 22. According to early estimates, on Day 2, it earned another 10 crore which is not a great figure for something mounted on a reported budget of Rs 150 crore. In fact, Shamshera earned lesser than his wife Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi on Day 2. The latest from the YRF stable seems to have fallen flat at the box office right at the start. The Karan Malhotra-directorial historical drama stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor.

Shamshera embarked on its journey with an opening of Rs 10.25 crore on Day 1. The opening is way lower than what the industry expected out of it. It’s all over for Shamshera as the film failed to show any growth at the box office on its second day too. According to early estimates, the collections fell in the range of Rs 9.8 to 10.60 crore. With this, the two-day total of the YRF production stands at Rs 20.60 crore. Films usually show see an upward trend on Saturdays, but not for Shamshera, which opened with the highest screen count in the post-pandemic era. It remains to be seen if there will be a jump in collections on Sunday or not.

Gangubai Kathiawadi took the box office by storm. Alia Bhatt’s impressive performance coupled with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s masterful direction ensured huge crowds in the theatres. On Day 2, the film managed to earn a total of Rs 23.82 crore. Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. In the film, Alia Bhatt plays a woman named Ganga who travels from Gujarat to Mumbai with her partner, but is sold off following a betrayal and ends up in a life of prostitution. She then becomes a madame named Gangubai in the red light area of Kamathipura and rises to power. She advocates for the rights of women and gets a stronghold in politics.

The storyline of Shamshera follows Ranbir Kapoor’s character being pitted against Sanjay Dutt. The latter plays the role of an evil, merciless and cold-hearted man named Shuddh Singh. The film is set in the 1800 fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh. The story focusses on a slave who becomes a leader and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his tribe’s freedom and dignity. Shamshera also stars Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera makers to not release full Kaale Naina song before release. Here’s why

The teaser of a new song, Kaale Naina, from Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera was unveiled on July 18. However, the makers will not unveil the full song prior to the film’s release. Find out why.

Ranbir Kapoor is breaking his three-year hiatus from films with his upcoming movie, Shamshera. Ahead of its release on July 22, the makers have dropped many songs from the film that have gone on to become chartbusters. Be it Ji Huzoor or Fitoor, the Shamshera soundtrack has already become an audience favourite. Well, yet another song from Shamshera is out but the makers have decided to share only the teaser and not the full track. Wondering why? Let’s find out!

After peppy and romantic tracks were released from Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor’s Shamshera, the teaser of a new song from the film, Kaale Naina was dropped by the makers on July 18. While the choreography and the song look refreshing, the film’s makers have decided to not release the full song prior to its release. The reason being, YRF feels there should be some surprise element and not reveal everything pre-release.

The YouTube description mentioned below the song can be read, “Saving the BEST for the last! It’s going to be dazzling, glorious and full of mischief! Kaale Naina song teaser is out, watch the full song ONLY ON THE BIG SCREEN! (sic).” The song has been crooned by Neeti Mohan, Shadab Faridi, Sudesh Bhosale and composed by Mithoon.

Shamshera releases on July 22. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Shamshera is produced by Yash Raj Films. It is reportedly set in the fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shudh Singh. In Shamshera, Ranbir Kapoor is playing a larger-than-life quintessential Hindi film hero for the first time in his career.

About performing scenes involving PTSD, Rajkummar told that it took a mental toll on him. He shared, “it did get mentally very taxing, and physically also, because there were scenes which were pretty long. And you can’t just be like doing ‘ha ha hee hee’, and then action and you’re in that zone. So for me, especially while shooting such scenes, I need to prepare.

That really helps,” she told, in an exclusive chat.
