RRR and The Kashmir Files released after many delays. But both are doing equally well at the box office. Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR released on March 25 in theatres and did spectacularly well on its first day. The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, opened to a slow start but slowly gained pace and entered the Rs 200 crore club in two weeks of run-time. Now that we have the day 1 box office collection of RRR, let’s compare how the two films fared at the BO on its first day.
RRR VS THE KASHMIR FILES DAY 1 BOX OFFICE
RRR opened worldwide on March 25 and, as per the box office numbers, it did phenomenally well on day 1. The first day box office collection is here and RRR minted a whopping amount of Rs 257.15 crore on day 1, according to trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan. On the other hand, The Kashmir Files opened in limited theatres (630-plus screens) on its first day of release and still managed to rake Rs 3.55 crore. So good for both, we would say!
RRR is directed by SS Rajamouli of Baahubali fame. The film stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead. Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Olivia Morris and Alison Doody play pivotal roles. RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The film has been bankrolled by DVV Danayya.
ABOUT THE KASHMIR FILES
The Kashmir Files is based on the life of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. The film is a true story, based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of the Kashmiri Pandit Community. It’s a heart-wrenching narrative of the pain, suffering, struggle and trauma of Kashmiri pandits which also questions eye-opening facts about democracy, religion, politics and humanity. The film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, among others.
