The makers of Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan have issued a clarification, refuting rumours of the film being released on an OTT platform through the pay per view model. The makers also revealed that their focus is to finish the film while keeping their crew’s safety in mind.
MAIDAAN MAKERS ISSUE CLARIFICATION
The full statement read, “We would like to share that there is currently no conversation with any streaming platform for pay per view release of Maidaan. Our focus, at present, is to complete the film keeping everyone’s safety in mind and in full compliance of protocols laid down by the government.
SALMAN KHAN OPTED FOR PAY PER VIEW MODEL FOR RADHE
Recently, Salman Khan’s Radhe went for pay per view release. Since the second wave of the novel coronavirus has hit the country hard, the film couldn’t be released in theatres on May 13. The film was released on ZEE5 with ZEE’s pay per view service ZEEPlex. The film was also shown on DTH operators like Dish, D2H, Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV.
Maidaan is inspired by the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who put India on the global map. The film has already been shot across Lucknow, Kolkata and Mumbai. A huge football stadium set was erected in Mumbai’s Film City to complete the shooting of the film, but it has been damaged by Cyclone Tauktae.
Maidaan is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. The film also stars Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh. It is produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta.
